What electrical problems we fix in your pool or spa

Whenever we get called out to do an electrical job on a pool or spa we always start with safety checks (GFCI, bonding/grounding, water/equipment continuity), then we test circuits, breakers, and devices.

If the problem is in the lighting loop (wet-niche or low-voltage), we inspect the junction/“deck” box and transformer, correct terminations, and replace compromised components. For pump/heater circuits, we test loads, verify conductor sizing and terminations, and swap failed GFCIs/timers/relays.

Electrical code & safety standards we adhere to

  • GFCI protection. Pool/spa motors require GFCI protection (≤60 A), and outdoor outlets/some equipment near water must be GFCI-protected; we test and document that protection after repairs.
  • Bonding & equipotential grid. We verify bonding of reinforcing steel, handrails, ladders, and perimeter surfaces; poor bonding is a common cause of “tingle”/shock complaints.
  • Lighting & junction boxes. Wet-niche luminaires require proper, listed junction boxes and separations; switching devices must be at least 5 ft from water unless separated by a barrier.

Lighting repairs & upgrades

We've serviced a ton of Pools and spas in Orangevale, and over the years we've noticed pool/spa lights fail for predictable reasons:

  • moisture intrusion
  • corroded conductors at the junction box
  • failing transformers/lamps.

We replace compromised boxes, correct conduit entries, install listed transformers, and re-terminate with watertight methods. When appropriate, we convert to low-glare LED systems and ensure GFCI/transformer placement satisfies Article 680 clearances.

Electrical pumps, heaters & controls

When we do electrical service for pumps and heaters we verify overcurrent protection, conductor size, and disconnects, then test controls (time clocks, contactors, relays, automation).

If a replacement pump/motor is needed, we install compliant dedicated-purpose pool pump equipment and document nameplate data for your records. (In California, replacement DPPP equipment follows state/federal efficiency rules, good for energy use and approvals.)

What you get when you choose us to do electrical pool & spa work

  • Root-cause diagnostics, not band-aids. We get down to what the real problem is. We won't take any shortcuts or band aids.
  • Clean, code-compliant repairs. Bonding/grounding corrected, GFCI verified, and junctions put back together neatly.
  • Clear documentation. Photos, device model numbers, panel schedule updates, and simple notes for future service.
  • No new-builds. We focus on repairs and upgrades to existing pools/spas; for new construction we’ll happily coordinate with your pool builder.
